All my dolls are adult women. They showcase many periods in history and various cultures through accurate representation of historic fashion and ethnic dress. Occasionally, however, inspiration simply dictates that a lady appear in a more fanciful costume to capture theme, mood or personality.
Each costume is researched and detailed to accurately reflect the particular period or ethnic dress. Antique fabric, lace and trim are used whenever possible. Undergarments appropriate to the costume are made of fine cotton, silk and lace.
I chose to work in porcelain even though there are more convenient sculpture media available. I like the way it looks and feels so the time consuming process of making plaster molds from the original sculpture, refining castings and multiple kiln firings is worth the effort. The porcelain ladies may be posed and are supported by a stand that does not interfere with the costume whether seated or standing.
Most of my porcelain ladies are one of a kind. Occasionally I make a limited edition of 2 to 5 dolls from the same head mold. Each of the dolls in the edition is a unique design in a one of a kind costume.

Most of my real world career was spent in the research or clinical laboratory but I have always been interested in fashion, textiles and embellishment. I began creating dolls to indulge that fascination. Although mostly self-taught I am grateful for the generous members of the doll community who have shared their expertise to help me grow as an artist. Every doll is a challenge to be a better sculptor, a more realistic painter and a more accomplished cobbler, milliner, costume designer, seamtress, hairdresser and engineer.
My work has been featured in DOLLS magazine, Art Doll Quarterly and Doll Castle News as well as the now defunct Doll Collector, Doll Reader, Doll Crafter and Doll Costuming publications. I have been elected to artist membership in ODACA, Original Doll Council of America, and have served as President of the organization. I am also a member of the UFDC, United Federation of Doll Clubs.
